WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator JD Vance issued the following statement regarding the Railway Safety Act’s passage through the Senate Commerce Committee:
“Today’s vote was a bipartisan victory for railway safety in America,” said Senator Vance. “The tragedy in East Palestine can never be undone, but with the advancement of this legislation, we are moving one step closer to ensuring this never happens again.
“I’d like to thank my colleagues on both sides of the aisle for their work that contributed to today’s vote. I’d also like to thank President Trump for his continued support for the people of East Palestine and for his endorsement of this legislation, which ensured the bill’s passage today. I look forward to finishing the fight and passing this legislation through the Senate.”

Originally cosponsored by Senators Vance, Brown, Hawley, Rubio, Casey, and Fetterman, the Railway Safety Act takes significant steps to improve railway safety standards across the nation.
